Hurricane Sandy closures and delays

The opening of all state office buildings will be delayed to 10 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Barre City Elementary and Middle School and Spaulding High School have both been cancelled tomorrow.

Rutland City schools are cancelled for Tuesday. Rutland Northeast, Rutland South supervisory unions are closed Tuesday.

From Southwest Vermont Supervisory Union (Schools in Bennington, North Bennington, Pownal, Shaftsbury and Woodford) website: Tuesday, October 30th there will be no school. Closed will be all of the School Offices and the Central Business Office.

Barre - The BOR rink is closed for the day. The downtown Halloween activities have been re-scheduled from Wednesday, October 31st to Thursday, November 1st.  This includes the employee costume contest and the North Main Street trick-or-treating.  Trick-or-treating on North Main Street will happen on Thursday, November 1st

Cape Air has cancelled all flights in the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast and Albany regions on Monday and Tuesday.

Montpelier School Superintendent Brian Ricca just announced the cancellation of all after school activities Monday, due to the approaching storm. In a phone blast to parents shortly after 12:30 p.m., Ricca said he would wait until Tuesday morning – “weather and power permitting” – to decide whether the Capital City’s public schools will be in session.

Bennington area cancellations here.

Bennington College is closing on Monday at 4 p.m. Weather permitting, classes will resume on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Castleton State College classes and activities cancelled today until Wednesday Oct. 31 at 7 am. Huden dining hall at Castleton will remain open, and students can go there in the event of power outages affecting the campus.
Lyndon State College is closed at least until 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Vermont Technical College classes are cancelled, but dorms and dining halls are to remain open.
There were no plans to close Johnson State College, but students were urged to check the websites there — as well as at the other schools —for updates.

Community College of Vermont students are asked to check in at their local site for the status of evening classes.

College of St. Joseph may remain open; please check their Facebook page for updates.

The Town of Brattleboro closed all “nonessential” offices Monday at noon, including those of the town clerk and town manager, listers, planning services, finance department and parking enforcement. Even so, town officials stressed they would continue to monitor the storm from the Municipal Center.

The Rutland Price Chopper and Hannaford supermarkets are keeping normal business hours on Monday. The Price Chopper in the Rutland Shopping Plaza is open 24 hours; Hannaford in the Green Mountain Plaza is open until midnight.
