Rutland Police have announced three arrests in the case of multiple broken windows and acts of vandalism around Rutland in the last few days.

Jacob Eells, 18, of West Rutland, Cade Bowen, 17, or Castleton, and Cody Vanguilder, 17, were arrested on Jan. 24, and charged with multiple counts of unlawful mischief according to Det. Sergeant Kevin Stevens of the Rutland Police Department. The investigators found BB guns which were used during the vandalism.

Police say that around 100 vehicles, residences and businesses were vandalized in Rutland City, Rutland Town and West Rutland over the course of about two days. The suspects fired BB guns at vehicles, residences and businesses, police said, resulting in broken windows and thousands of dollars worth of damage.

All three teens have been cited to appear in Rutland Superior Court on Feb. 4 to answer the charges of multiple counts of unlawful mischief.

  1. As I said before; A month in an out of state jail for each window broken. Add restitution onto that, and we have a fair sentence.  The little scumbags deserve the worst.

  2. I hope they get the full measure of punishment, including visiting every location and apologizing personally for their actions.  10 hours of community service for each violation and a stiff fine that they, not their parents, must pay!!!  Plus full restitution to every victim!!

    Kids will be kids…

Kids will be kids?  I really hope you’re kidding. Since when is this behavior acceptable?

      • @Anita_Lao
As I understand it, kids brains are still developing up until the age of 25 to 27… They are juveniles and shouldn’t be punished as adults… My children had the good fortune to have a judge that understands and they both are doing great now… (Kids will be kids?  I really hope you’re kidding.) Not kidding… smile ;-)

    • @Rixar13 I don’t know what kind of “kids” you are referring to… but generally speaking… sociopathic behavior is not a “normal phase” in development last I checked. (sincerely, a mother of a gentleman)

  4. 1. They should revoke their driver’s licenses until they are 21.
    2. They should have to pay restitution, and submit a formal apology to the property owners as well as to the entire city of Rutland (because those are YOUR tax dollars at work as well).
    3. They should each serve a number of hours doing community service.
    4. Their parents should have to see a family counselor, and it should be court mandated.
Sending a clear message to Rutland youth, you belong to a community… and this kind of low class behavior toward your neighbors doesn’t fly….

  6. They truely need to make an example of these idiots. im so sick of the rifraft around or city. we always had some doing drugs and vandalizing and causing trouble, but now we have way more then ever. kids being killed, drugs out of control, stealing, and we all know this stuff leads to more and worse actions. growing up i new if i did wrong the consequences at home would probaly be worse then anything else i could get, but i dont think kids today have consequences.. i know as a parent i have done my job raising two kids that know if they fuck up im right there, and with no hesitation to put my foot in there ass, and they would be made to make it right. growing up i new better and my kids know better. there needs to be reprocusions at home, and if the crime intales the law well reprocusons there to and no slaps on hands anymore!!!!!! thirty years ago the shit that happens today would not be happening.

    • @callahan25 I think I grew up in the same era as you did…. Parents were not “friends” with their kids, they were their parents. Discipline meant respect for boundaries, and that carried over to life outside the home. You are not “lowering” your child’s self esteem by telling them “NO….”
But truthfully, by this point, at 17/18 years old…. it’s done. They now need to be parented by the system, which equals– “we don’t care about how you feel about yourself… you break it, you bought, son.”

    • @callahan25
Callahan25, I agree with you but must you use profanity in your comment?

      • @lorac odraned  @callahan25
I didn’t use profanity but, the military has spent tax payer monies to arm me with lines that would shake a prison inmate….

callahan25, re-read your original post. You used a four letter word that starts with F and a four letter word that starts with S. While I certainly agree with you my thoughts are this is a public forum. We should keep the cuss words out of such conversation. I know people use these words as part of their normal everyday conversations but I think you are much more intelligent and know bigger words than those!

  7. Scum of the earth! Bring back reform school or they get “enlistsed” into the military. Their job as I stated earlier is in thr Middle East war zones to find land mines. Maybe the next generation of lawless punks would get the message!
